CAMRIS Team Delivers Technical Assistance to USAID PPL Bureau
3/16/2011

CAMRIS provides support to USAID, DOD, and AusAID in development of their Democracy and Governance programs. CAMRIS has demonstrated its ability to quickly respond to a range of D&G concerns, mainly in election monitoring and political processes, rule of law, improvement of governance in public sector management, and post conflict. CAMRIS provides expert technical assistance to the various sectors under Democracy and Governance, from program design to program management, economic and financial analysis, logistics, monitoring and evaluation, 508 compliance, training and open source analysis.

One of CAMRIS’ main contracts consists of providing program support services to the Bureau of Policy, Planning and Learning (PPL) of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Under this contract, CAMRIS has provided USAID with support services to host the Nov/December 2009 Mission Directors conference and the July 2010 Science Technology Innovation (STI) conference. CAMRIS also provides a series of Subject Matter Experts (SME) to support the Quadrennial Diplomacy-Development-Defense Review (QDDDR) process and USAID public outreach, with the latter largely consisting of drafting speeches for senior USAID leaders.

Another CAMRIS D&G project is a task order subcontract under the “Building Recovery and Reform through Democratic Governance” (BRDG) Indefinite Quantity Contract. The task order, titled CIMIENTOS, is the Regional Governance Consolidation Program in Colombia, also known as “Ciudadanos y Municipalidades Invierten en Educacion, Transparencia, Salud y Seguridad.” CAMRIS, under CIMIENTOS, provides expert assistance to address the interrelationships between citizen security, capacity of local government institutions, citizen participation, and the ability of the GOC to regain real control over conflictive regions and move toward lasting peace.

CAMRIS has a record of accomplishment of excellent performance in the D&G arena, providing exceptional expertise to USAID agencies and local government institutions, and supporting projects from design to implementation and closeout. CAMRIS has actively supported USAID by providing analysis and input to the drafting of QDDDR, developing policy and protocols to provisioning support services to USAID overseas missions, providing outreach to USAID partners and stakeholder and providing research on the authorities for delegated cooperation, making it possible for USAID to engage more readily with other donors on joint funding of programs. CAMRIS has also had a stellar background in providing assistance to foreign agencies such as AusAID, providing support to the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI) in upgrading the evaluation system and rationalizing the Solomon Island Government financial system.

CAMRIS has also provided support to various nations in Eastern Europe and Latin America to streamline internal and customs revenue processes, making those processes more transparent while increasing revenue. Finally yet importantly, CAMRIS supported senior level USG leaders and officers by briefing on developments affecting the growth of D&G in conflict or post conflict affected regions.
