DOS CAMRIS Update Instructions

If you already have a CAMRIS for DOS installation, follow these instructions to update to the latest program version. This procedure will not change your overlays, your map files, or your library structure.

Step 1: Make a backup copy of your CAM3SET.DAT file, your CAMSET.EXE file, and your current executable CAMRIS file. If you type 'loader cam8' to initiate CAMRIS, then this file is named CAM8.EXP.

You may also back up any TILDE and CARET files (for example TILDE.ASC, TILDE.ENG, etc.). These files contain the menus and messages CAMRIS uses.

As these files will be overwritten during the update procedure, you should choose new names for the backup files or place your backup files in a new directory. If the update is successful you can later delete the backup files. If the update is not successful you may want to return to them.

Step 2: CAMRIS 8mb users should download the CAMRIS 8mb update file, which is named CAMUP81.ZIP. CAMRIS 16mb users should download the CAMRIS 16mb update file, which is named CAMUP161.ZIP.

Step 3: Unzip the update file into your main CAMRIS directory. The following files will be replaced: CAM8.EXP (or CAM16.EXP) TILDE.ESP, TILDE.ENG. TILDE.POR, CARET.ESP, CARET.ENG, CARET.POR, and CAMSET.EXE.

Also, a text version of these instructions (CAMUP1.TXT) and a Word 97 version (CAMUP1.DOC) will be copied into the main CAMRIS directory.

Step 4: Run CAMRIS. If your menus contain strange infinity signs, exit CAMRIS and run CAMSET. Choose a language for menus and save your changes. This will update your menu files, even if you choose the same language you have been using all along.

If your documentation is not current, you may want to download the updated manuals.
